We will be embarking (March 17, 2024) on another challenging hike, this time the goal is to plant our flag on top Everest Base Camp once again.
This trek is totally different than any other we have done. This time our trek is being led by Remy Kloos, the first South African to summit Mt Everest and Mt Lhotse back to back, and the first South African woman to summit Mt Lhotse.

A sign-up fee of $25.00 is donated on our website (use your email as a reference). Once registered, you will receive a link to join. Our fundraising target is $300 pp. Run, walk, cycle... 60km in 8 days. We will take you through the most beautiful breathtaking scenery in the world. Each year we choose different projects to fund and for 2019 we decided to trek to the summit of Kilimanjaro to raise funds for our second Lumenis Ultra Pulse CO2 Laser Machine, to be donated in Johannesburg to help children with their scars and also to keep funding the U-matter program.
The 15 members of the team representing the Avela Foundation are back in South Africa after a challenging yet extremely rewarding trek to Everest Base Camp (EBC). “All our hard work and preparation paid off”, says Cami Palomo, founder of Avela Foundation that helps children with serious burn injuries on their emotional and physical road to recovery.
