Smile Week

Posted: Jul 25, 2017

The Avela Foundation along with the Smile Foundation donated The Lumenis UltraPulse(R) Laser Machine to The Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital in Cape Town, South Africa to help treat burn scars.

As part of the Smile Week this year (17-21 July 2017), sponsored by Clicks Helping Hand Trust and The Avela Foundation 30 children received life-changing reconstructive surgery including a large number of children with burns.

Around 30 children were assisted during the five days, with acute burns, laser cases and reconstructive surgery for burns injuries being prioritised by the surgical teams, at this time of year.

Watch the SABC3 Espresso feature about one of the beautiful little burn survivors (Wanga Bodi) who was treated in Cape Town with this life changing technology.

“The Avela Foundation was established to help children in South Africa with burn injuries on their road to physical and psychological recovery. We feel very blessed that the Smile Foundation is allowing us to partner with them to help these little angels. Together with Clicks Helping Hand Trust and the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital we can help change their lives. Our gratitude to everyone involved in supporting this amazing cause.” – Cami Palomo | Avela Foundation (Founder).

Please DONATE NOW and help us raise funds for more survivors like Wanga across South Africa.
THANK YOU in advance for your support and kindness.
