On the 6th of July 2024, our Umatter community came together for a heartfelt and inspiring nature trail hike at the Walter Sisulu National Botanical Gardens, bringing together families with children who have suffered burn injuries.
This special event was more than just a walk in the woods, it was a beautiful opportunity for families to connect, share their stories and find solace in the company of others who truly understand their journey.
The event was more educational and it successfully brought together diverse participants including Healthcare Professionals, Fire department stakeholders, Burn Survivors/Parents and communities who all united for a common goal which is to reduce the incidence and impact of Burn injuries.
The hike provided a serene and welcoming environment where parents could feel comfortable and supported.
As we walked the trail, surrounded by the calming beauty of nature and waterfalls, conversations flowed freely.
Stories of courage, resilience, and hope were shared without fear of judgement. In these moments, bonds were formed, and a supportive community began to flourish.
Seeing the smiles, hearing the laughter, and witnessing the genuine connections that were made reaffirmed the importance of such gatherings.
It reminded us all that no one has to face their challenges alone, Together, we are stronger, and together, we can create a community where every family feels understood and valued.
Thank you to our speakers that share valuable information and stories of resilience and strength.
